Blackhole is a beautifully rendered 2D sci-fi hardcore platformer developed and published on Steam by FiolaSoft Studio. The game has been ported to the Linux platform along with the just-released DLC.

There are quite a few 2D platformers on the Linux platform, and you might think that there isn't enough place for another one, but the truth is that Blackhole is not your regular game. It feels like a triple A title, and it has a deep story and some great visuals. The game was initially released for the PC platform just a few months ago, and it already garnered a lot of praise from the community.

The players will be able to travel through some incredible levels, visit the lost city of an ancient civilization, explore a living jungle, and just try to survive every step of the way. You will always have to confront new situations and work to figure out what you have to do next.

Blackhole also gets a new DLC

The developers from FiolaSoft Studio didn't just port the game to the Linux platform, they also released a new major DLC for the game called the Testing Laboratory, which should provide new levels, some backstory, and a new character named House.

"In the year 2121 planet Earth is endangered by Black Holes. That is why a special team was created to close them all. But something went terribly wrong… That’s how the story of Endera spaceship crew starts. You could have thought that when they all got sucked into a black hole, it’s already bad enough, and nothing worst could happen. The existence of Mother Earth and the whole human race depends on a guy who’s making coffee. And not a very good one," reads the synopsis.

The system requirements for Blackhole are not all that big. Users will need at least Ubuntu 14.04 (other OSes might work as well), an Intel Core i5, 4GB of RAM, a video card with 1GB VRAM and SM4 support, and 2GB of available space.
