Shiny The Firefly, a beautiful 2D platformer developed by Stage Clear Studios and published by Headup Games, has been released on the Steam for Linux platform.

2D platformers are a dime a dozen, especially on the Steam for Linux platform which seems to be very friendly with this genre. Shiny The Firefly stands apart with its beautiful graphics and interesting gameplay.

“Master tricky trials and solve demanding puzzles on this odyssey. You’ll need stealth to protect your children from deadly dangers and to fend off nasty enemies. As well as big boss fights, you’ll encounter many dangerous garden dwellers, such as the stubborn mosquitoes, hungry toads, mischievous plants, sneaky wasps and endlessly long centipedes,” reads the official Steam website.

This is one of the few games that actually got a release for all the platforms at once, Linux, Windows, and Mac OS. Shiny The Firefly comes with a single player campaign, Steam Achievements, Full controller support, and Steam Trading Cards.

The system requirements are also quite low and the developers didn’t even listed a minimum Linux distribution for the game. Users will only need to have 512 MB of RAM, and 500 MB of available space.

Check the official Steam website for more details about this game. Shiny The Firefly also comes with a 25% discount that is scheduled to expire on May 23.
