Multifl0w, a multitasking interface for jailbroken iPhones, has received an important update, adding Exposé-like functionality, which makes it faster to use, and have all of the open apps visible at the same time.

Softpedia readers may recall that Apple's CEO admited that his company was late to incorporate multitasking in iOS, but that they were going to be the best at it.

They were, until now.

After Apple released iOS4, there was still high demand for an alternative solution, Aaron Ash, the developer of Multifl0w, claims.

The app, which requires a jailbroken iPhone, was initially created for iOS 3.1.2.

It was formerly vailable with a cards-style interface similar to that seen on Palm's WebOS.

Now, Multifl0w 2.0 is available. It has been “entirely rewritten for speed, performance, reliability, and for iOS4, iPad, and iPhone 4,” Ash reveals.

Multifl0w 2.0 shows up to nine open apps on the same screen, allowing tabs to be re-arranged. Better yet, it can work alongside iOS 4, or it can totally replace Apple's task switcher.

It’s compatible with devices running iOS 3.1.x, while users are encouraged to install the free Backgrounder app as well.

Backgrounder enables more customization, says Ash, “so you can get the multitasking style you want.”

“The cards style interface worked well, but there was still room for improvement,” Ash notes in a FAQ on his multifl0w.com web site, revealing why he decided to change the app.

“To switch to a new app in a cards style interface, 3 things needed to be done: Open, then swipe, then tap,” he explains. “Why not make it faster and have all of the open apps visible at the same time?”

According to the developer, “all apps are [now] visible at the same time, and it only takes one tap to switch to another app. This makes more sense, he believes.

Ash trusts folks to find the new version very useful.

Furthermore, Multifl0w even works on first generation iPhones and iPod touches, although “the experience isn't as good as on a newer device,” Ash warns.

“Although Multifl0w will work on these devices, it is recommended that you use faster devices for a better user experience,” he claims.

Remember, to use Multifl0w, you will need to pay Cydia a visit using a jailbroken device. The app costs $4.99.
