Windows is surely the most popular operating system in the entire world but sometimes, the users are looking for a more powerful alternative to replace their old fashioned PC. An US university decided this is the time when the Windows operating system must leave to be replaced by Macs. Wilkes University sustained the university will replace all the PCs with brand new Macs because the investment will help them save more than $150.000 according to Macworld.

The vice president for finance and the head of campus IT sustained the university currently has 4.000 undergraduate and graduate students with almost 1.700 computers. After the major change, the university aims to own only 1.450 Macs and make the department even more productive.

"We'll be able to reduce the number by about 250 across the campus", said Byers, because labs and classrooms were typically outfitted with an inefficient PC-Mac mix. A class suitable for 30, for instance, might be equipped with 20 PCs and 20 Macs "because each class and each department had its own preference for what computers and what software they liked to use," Byers said according to Macworld.

The representative sustained the major switch is expected to require almost three years, being already started last year when the university bought 500 Macs. Although the school tried to let students choose between PCs and Macs, the Wilkes University's official sustained: "This generation seems to prefer Macs."

This is another proof that Mac is going to conquer the entire virtual world soon but let's wait to see Microsoft's reply because, as you surely know, the software giant really wants to look like a company that is struggling to improve the educational system.
