Bookshelf book speakers. On your shelf, obviously.

One of my dreams is to have a house one day, but definitely not the common type of house: my house! Not that I fancy god knows what luxury-loaded crap put there just to be there - I think of gathering all my books in a special, dedicated room, much like the home-libraries in olden English manors. And not only for reading, but also for meeting close friends over a cup of tea or coffee, all in the soothing presence of discrete music.

And if we've gotten to the books and music, what could be more interesting than loudspeakers which look like books among hundreds of other books on the shelves? Yep, it's been done: these days you can buy these speakers directly from Amazon for a mere $49.90.

These uncanny speakers really look like thick books and their front is in fact the image of the back or binding of an actual book. Well, actually the binding is the proper grill and it reads "History of Music", exactly like a binding-printed book.

Inside, there are two 3" long throw woofers and a small, 5/8" mylar dome tweeter, all in the D'Appolito configuration, meaning all the speakers are set up vertically, with woofers at the bottom and at the top of the small array, while the tweeter is positioned in between them, it the middle.

Not quite the audiophile unit some might think of, but the almost 50 bucks you'll spend on these bookshelf speakers will still pump out 30W RMS (60W peak) in the 50Hz-18,000Hz range, running on a very common 8 Ohm impedance. Needless to say that they will work with any of your music sources and even with your portable device, should you not require that much amplification.

A very lovely idea, sold originally for about $150 and offered not in a limited stock, the perfect gift or even a small investment in the coziness of your home.
