I have come across yet another beard contest, this time held in Germany, in the small town of Pforzheim.

On April 27, some 100 men proudly wearing their facial hair gathered to participate in the 26th German Beard and Mustache Championship.

According to Huffington Post, they entered appropriately titled categories such as "Dali-style," "Imperial" and "Freestyle."

Participants showed off their goatees and cleverly combed mustache and many emulated famous figures or fictional characters.

"Whenever you go outside, people really pay attention and look at you," one contestant describes.

In September of last year, I documented the world championships for beard and mustache styling and grooming, held in France.

At that time, contestants described it as “pageantry for men” and they were proud to show off their styling and designs.
