Twelve-year-old Joshua McQuoid from New Zealand was lucky enough to be saved from drowning by beachgoers forming a human chain.

You can see the chain forming in the clip above, and people joining hands to help save the little boy. According to Stuff New Zealand, McQuoid was at the beach at 4.55 p.m. when he was swept off to sea.

McQuoid was at the beach with friend Hikiroa Ratapu, 13 when he was carried away by waves. A German tourist noticed him first, but was not able to drag him to shore. He was joined by a policeman and several other people that were on the beach on Sunday, March 10.

"His exact words were he felt like he was in a washing machine," the victim's father describes. The boy has been saved and transported to a hospital with no injuries.
