Patriot Memory is one of the memory manufacturers that have had more success on American soil than anywhere else; they have been building and are generally recognized for their Extreme Performance (EP) Dual Channel (DC) and Signature Line (SL) series of memory modules. One other thing apparently needed for a company's credibility is their membership with JEDEC and of course, Patriot Memory is a member of the council.

Their newest product is a part of their Extreme Performance series marketed as being "gaming modules". The memory kit comes in two sizes, the 2x512MB or 2x1GB versions and they run at 1150MHz (PC9200). Mainly it's a good thing to remember that, just as all of the major memory manufacturers, the memory modules made by Patriot Memory, a member of JEDEC, are not compliant with JEDEC standards. These kits have low latencies of 5-5-5-12, but with a 2.3V voltage, no way near the 1.8V the standards require.

It is very important to remember that these high voltages are not recommended by NVIDIA for use over a long period of time at high voltages on NVIDIA 680i-based motherboards. The heat emissions also require that the memory modules get proper cooling and in this case a "bladed aluminum heat shield" does the trick. On the bright side of things the memory modules come with a lifetime warranty, but that doesn't cover the motherboard and/or other components, so, consider yourself warned. This isn't the case just with the Patriot's memory kits, but with all of them.

Paul Jones, CEO of Patriot Memory said: "We are excited to introduce our new Extreme Performance 1150MHz modules, which will provide gamers with a high performance solution that they can afford. These modules reaffirm Patriot's commitment to both top-quality products and the gaming and enthusiast community."
