Bazaar, a Canonical project to produce a free version control system, is now at version 2.5.0.

Bazaar 2.5.0 is a major update, according to the developers, supported until 2017. The new version provides faster smart protocol implementation for many operations and basic support for colocated branches.

A few bugs were fixed: locks in "bzr info" on control directories without a repository are now shown, and the SSL certificate verification on OSX and Windows, until a native access to the the root certificates is provided, was disabled.

"We have started translating bzr with the 2.5 series: https://translations.launchpad.net/bzr, more than 20 languages have already been registered but these are the early days, contributions welcome."
