Platinum Games, the studio behind hit titles like MadWorld, Infinite Space, Bayonetta and the most recent Vanquish, has revealed that it wants to continue the partnership it had up until now with Sega.

Platinum Games is currently one of the most successful independent Japanese game developerment studios, being responsible for extremely popular games like Bayonetta, and critically acclaimed ones like MadWorld, which took advantage of a unique art style in order to appear on the Nintendo Wii.

Currently, the studio's four game deal with Sega, which it signed back in 2008, is up, and it seems that Platinum wants to continue with its fellow Japanese company.

"When we created Platinum Games, we of course talked to a lot of publishers, and Sega offered us the most freedom to develop games," Platinum executive producer Atsushi Inaba revealed recently.

"The partnership has been great, and we are in talks with Sega now, but there's nothing concrete we can say about it at the moment."

Sega might not be so keen on reviving the partnership though, as even though Platinum Games has began to have a loyal fan base, sales of its titles up until now haven't exactly been through the roof, with only Bayonetta gaining mainstream acclaim.

Titles like MadWorld or Infinite Space, on the other hand, got quite a few hardcore fans interested, but sales haven't been up to par.

"For the future of our partnership, of course, it's not something that we alone can decide," he added. "Sega has its stance, and we have ours, but if Sega asks us to make something we might take the offer."

Inaba also revealed that the contract gives the rights to the four IPs to Sega, so the Japanese company may develop sequels to them with or without the help of Platinum Games.
