AbleGamers is an organization which aims to persuade the video game industry to deliver titles that can be played by those with disabilities, and the game that managed to remain accessible while also delivering high quality gameplay is Bayonetta 2, which was launched by Nintendo only on the Wii U home console.

The company explains that “This game allows players to choose from a plethora of options with the WiiU GamePad, Pro Controller, the GamePad's touch screen, or in any combination that is most comfortable for the player. Some might say this is a visual masterpiece with astonishing graphics, top tier subtitles, and a visual style carefully crafted to not impede the enjoyment of the game for those with colorblindness.”

Other titles that are recommended for those who have accessibility issues include: Hearthstone, which still has some color deficiency issues; Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, which share the limits of the 3DS on which they were launched; Tropico 5, which has limited mouse compatibility; The Sims 4; and Civilization: Beyond Earth, which has some color issues.

The official site of the AbleGamers organization can offer gamers more detailed information on the above mentioned titles and also features reviews for a wide array of other AAA and smaller titles that were launched in 2014.

Those who like the work that the people at AbleGamers are doing can also log into their official site and maybe donate.

Indie games can also be accessible

The award for accessible indie games is shared by Always Sometimes Monsters, from Vagabond Dog, and This War of Mine by 11 Bit Studios, both of which manage to make sure that almost any player can enjoy the story and gameplay, with plenty of options for disabled players.

Despite the fact that both games are created by smaller teams, they have both mechanics and overall design that make it easier for them to be enjoyed by players who have accessibility issues.

AbleGamers believes that the gaming industry can deliver even more accessible titles in 2015.
