The chances to see Bayonetta 2 ported are quite slim

Bayonetta 2 developer Platinum Games has made it clear that the decision to bring the new hack and slash experience to other platforms besides the Wii U is solely in the hands of Nintendo, so PS4 or Xbox One owners should ask the company for a port.

Bayonetta was one of the most refreshing hack and slash titles that appeared a few years ago for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms, delighting many with the frantic and intense action, as well as with its attractive protagonist.

Unfortunately for developer Platinum Games, during the creation process of Bayonetta 2, publisher Sega pulled the plug on the whole project, so the Japanese studio started talking with other companies about publishing deals.

Seeing as how many were unwilling to invest in it, Nintendo swooped in and helped the studio finish the game, on the condition that it would appear only on the Wii U platform.

The game became a reality and launched a few weeks ago in Japan, but since then, many fans who don't own a Wii U have started flooding Platinum Games with requests about adaptations for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, or even PC.

Platinum sets the record straight and explains everything

In order to make it clear that Platinum doesn't have any power concerning new platforms for Bayonetta 2, studio boss Hideki Kamiya has offered a statement, via NintendoEverything, explaining just how much Nintendo helped the game's creation.

"Bayonetta 2 was about to get terminated completely, when Nintendo came in and lent a hand and we were able to restart the development we so desired. The game was finally released last week, so after five years, we were able to make Bayonetta 2 available to the public," he says.

Bayonetta 2 has as many chances to appear on other platforms as Mario or Zelda

Kamiya explains that Bayonetta 2 is now owned by Nintendo, and considering that the company isn't willing to bring its games to other platforms, don't expect it to do that with the new hack and slash experience.

"As I have said before, if you want Bayonetta 2 on PS4 or Xbox One, how about trying to ask Nintendo? If Nintendo doesn't say yes, it's not going to happen. While you're at it, try asking for Mario and Zelda too."

The developer also explains that fans shouldn't be upset with Nintendo over this fact, as this is just how business works and the company at least helped make Bayonetta 2 a reality, unlike other potential publishers that declined to aid the creation process.
