The Bay Bridge will be closing today at 8 p.m. local time and it is set to reopen on Tuesday, after Labor Day.

Thousands of people will have to look for alternate routes, which should complicate the morning commute to San Francisco.

According to the Inquisitr, the last bus going over the bridge is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. Wednesday, as shown in the video report above.

The BART system will provide the alternative for all the commuters left stranded by the closure.

“People who normally take a Trans-bay bus could hop on the same bus; it will dump them off at a BART station for the continued trip to San Francisco,” Clarence Johnson states, speaking for the AC Transit service.

Officials are warning residents about avoiding to travel during rush hours, at 8 - 8:30 a.m. and 5 - 5:30 p.m.

BART spokesman Jim Allison describes that traffic will be chaotic during those times, particularly on Thursday and Friday.
