A brand-new report claims that Electronic Arts and DICE will soon reveal a special Battlefield Premium online service, similar to Activision’s Call of Duty Elite, which will offer paying members exclusive downloadable content and advantages in Battlefield 3’s multiplayer mode.

Battlefield 3 delivered a great experience last year and its online Battlelog service allowed players to interact with friends and track their performance in the game’s different modes.

According to MP1st, however, a new service will soon be launched, called Battlefield Premium, which will offer members, in exchange for a subscription, access to a variety of special items and content, just like Activision’s Call of Duty Elite does for players of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The website cites “reliable inside sources” and says that a Battlefield Premium membership will give players access to “a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else.”

These items include a premium knife and a black dog tag, as well as a set of special soldier and weapon camos, and even some unique Assignments that “will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options.”

The website also claims that the service will be revealed shortly before the launch of the Close Quarters expansion for Battlefield 3 that will take place, according to its sources, on June 12.

After the expansion, which includes several maps, more content will be released, like a special strategy guide for new players, and much more.

While this is still just a report, Electronic Arts has expressed its admiration for Activision’s Call of Duty Elite, which brought in quite a lot of profit by offering a free and a paid subscription to Modern Warfare 3 players.

Until we hear anything from EA or DICE, however, take this Battlefield Premium rumor with a grain of salt.
