A new gameplay video from Battlefield Hardline has made its way to the surface of the Internet, showcasing some sequences from the first-person shooter’s single-player campaign.

Battlefield, just like its Arch enemy Call of Duty, is not a game series known for its single-player appeal. However, the upcoming Battlefield Hardline seems poised to deliver a campaign experience that’s at least a notch above what people usually expect from such iterative installments.

Developer DICE has been steadily pushing for more single-player immersion in its recent titles, and Visceral Games, the creators of the Dead Space series, might just be the guys to pull it off. The developer’s fresh take on the classic vehicle and class-driven gameplay is the perfect opportunity to show long-time fans of the military shooter something different.

A push for more single-player engagement

Battlefield Hardline switches the classic military setting for an urban one, following the woes of cops and robbers, and letting players enjoy the same kind of action with some slight twists. Both Visceral and DICE assured gamers that Hardline would feel instantly familiar to Battlefield veterans, while at the same time providing enough variation from the base formula to offer a revitalized experience.

Battlefield, just like Call of Duty, became insanely famous all across the globe on the back of multiplayer interaction, but it seems that the custodians of the two franchises are no longer satisfied with merely reiterating the same content each year.

The video below shows a healthy chunk of gameplay from the upcoming first-person shooter’s single-player campaign, meant to offer players a taste of what’s coming their way.

Cop drama fans should watch out for Hardline

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare promised to deliver an immersive story and some fresh gameplay elements, most notably the science fiction gadgets and exo-suit. While the campaign is still quite disappointing, being more of a short rollercoaster ride you can take before jumping into multiplayer like you’re supposed to, the new features introduced through the adaptation of speculative technology will surely prove an interesting experience moving forward.

In the case of Battlefield Hardline, the cops and robbers theme is a chance to offer a satisfying cop drama campaign, and the developers have turned to notable TV show veterans for help, for both acting and writing.

Battlefield Hardline is scheduled to come out on March 31, 2015, headed to the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 and PC platforms.
