The latest numbers from the United Kingdom are out, showing that Visceral Games' latest entry in the first-person shooter genre, Battlefield Hardline, is still going strong, in spite of some pretty serious competition from Bloodborne and Borderlands.

The cops and robbers take on the traditionally military-oriented Battlefield franchise offers a somewhat fresh approach to the established multiplayer design that made the series so popular, while also providing a more relatable cop drama campaign for fans of single-player stories to explore.

The Battlefield franchise is one of the most popular in the world, so it's no wonder that Battlefield Hardline made its debut at number 1 last week and is still holding on to the crown this week.

The sales data for the week ending March 28, provided by retail tracking firm Chart Track, offers us a pretty good look at the evolution of video game software trends.

Sales of Sony's PlayStation 4 home console went over the 1 million mark as early as September last year in the United Kingdom, which means that that Bloodborne, From Software's latest PS4 exclusive role-playing game, has a pretty solid install base.

This translated into the Van Helsing-flavored spiritual successor to the Souls series taking the number 2 spot for its launch week, beating the multi-platform release of Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.

The re-release of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel marks the debut of the acclaimed first-person shooter / role-playing game hybrid on the PS4 and Xbox One, landing at position number 3.

Beyond the podium

Things are usually pretty predictable when you leave aside the new launches, as the UK gamers' habits seem to be pretty consistent over time. Rockstar Games' action-adventure blockbuster Grand Theft Auto V drops a position to number 4, followed by EA Sports' FIFA 15, and, still going surprisingly strong, Dying Light, Techland's first-person zombie survival game.

Next up we have Activision's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, gaining a little bit of popularity and stepping up to spot number 7, followed by the week's biggest mover, Ubisoft's Far Cry 4, jumping ten spots up to number 8.

Ready at Dawn's Victorian-era supernatural romp The Order: 1886 is still showing a pretty good presence at retail, in spite of the bad publicity surrounding its gameplay systems and length, and the fact that it's only available on the PS4.

Last week's new entries, Mario Party 10 and Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, have fallen in popularity to spots number 11 and 12, respectively.

Turtle Rock Studios' asymmetrical multiplayer shooter Evolve is still in the charts, gaining a bit of momentum and stepping up four places, landing at 15.
