Gamers will also have to use their badge

The team at Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts are continuing to offer more information on the single-player component of the coming Battlefield Hardline, and this time around the two companies are aiming to explain how important gadgets will be when it comes to making progress in the narrative.

A new article on the official site explains that the protagonist of the story will be a cop and that means they can simply use their badge and a shout of "Freeze" to try and control a situation without actually having to shoot at those involved and engage in a costly firefight.

Scott Warner, the designer director working on Battlefield Hardline, states, "Not only is this the right thing to do but you’ll unlock gear faster by avoiding casualties - especially if you manage to take a warrant alive. If you have a partner with you they’ll have your back in that moment and try to take out anyone who tries to threaten you with deadly force."

When the badge does not generate the required results, gamers have the option of reaching for the stun gun, an electric pistol which delivers 50,000 volts to the targeted enemy and takes him down without problems.

Gamers can use a Scanner to get information

Visceral Games says that players can use the tool to find enemies and then tag them, which makes their locations known at all times.

The Scanner can also be used to analyze faces, which can deliver a big cash payout if a known wanted criminal is taken down non-lethally, and can also be invaluable when avoiding alarms.

Warner also hints at the many options that gamers will have when it comes to vehicles for the single player of Battlefield Hardline, which will range from classic squad cars to the already revealed weaponized boats.

Visceral Games has already offered fans a look at all the ten episodes that will make up the narrative of the shooter, which is modeled on successful television shows and aims to deliver some realistic acting and emotional moments.

It's unclear how long the single-player component will take to explore and whether it will have any direct impact on the multiplayer.

Battlefield Hardline will be out on March 17 in the United States and March 19 in Europe and can be played on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4 and last-gen consoles, with an EA Access trial coming on March 12.
