Battlefield Hardline continues to be somewhat of a mystery even if at the moment it’s about four months away from its new official launch date, but there’s a new gameplay clip taken from the single-player side of the shooter which might shed some light on what it has to offer.

The footage is apparently not intended to be shown to the public in its current state and shows a section that includes a cutscene and some action moments, explaining how some of the core gameplay elements of the title are working.

Three new screenshots are also linked to the video for Battlefield Hardline, but the development team at Visceral Games has not offered any new details about its vision for the first-person shooter.

The single player is set to be based on both Hollywood movies and on high-profile television shows, and it will follow a cop and his partner as they need to interact with some tough criminal cartels as they are trying to find out the source of a massive shipment of drugs.

Battlefield Hardline is at the moment set to be launched on March 17 of next year in the United States and two days later in Europe on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PC, and last-gen consoles.

The community changed the course of development

The title was initially set to be offered during the current fall launch season in order to compete directly with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but after a beta test which drew some strong opinions from the Battlefield fan community, publisher Electronic Arts decided to delay the experience in order to make sure that its quality is what the public is expecting.

At the moment, the direct competition for the Activision title is linked to The Final Stand, a piece of downloadable content for Battlefield 4.

Visceral Games has promised that the single player will have a lot of choices when it comes to tackling levels, either violently or stealthily.

At the same time, the studio and DICE are working to create a multiplayer experience which is more dynamic than that of Battlefield 4.

Newly added modes include: Heist, Blood Money, Hotwire and Rescue, each of them with its unique set of rules.

It’s unclear whether long-term fans of the franchise will like any of them enough to make the new shooter a success in the long run.
