Battlefield Hardline has been officially confirmed by the development team at Visceral Games and by publisher Electronic Arts, with a full official reveal set to come on June 9, and now the game also has a leaked gameplay trailer which shows more than 7 minutes of action taken from the title.

The footage is clearly designed for internal company use, because the game is mostly referred to by its Omaha codename rather than the newer official title, but it does offer a clear look at the experience, when it comes to both single-player and multiplayer modes.

Somewhat confusingly, the team at Visceral Games talks about the multiplayer side of the game first, saying that the new Heist and Blood Money modes are specifically designed to introduce innovation to the series.

At the same time, the studio is also introducing classic gameplay choices for those who have been fans of the Battlefield experience since the first titles were launched.

Visceral Games makes a lot of promises about a varied set of experiences, mechanics that make it easier to deal with campers, vehicles that enhance the gameplay without becoming its centerpoint and maps that are designed to encourage gamers to create more intense fire fights.

The single-player campaign will use a young and brash detective as its protagonist and the core narrative will explore what happens when an idealistic officer takes on the corrupt force that he is part of and needs to work with the criminal underground to reach his aims.

The cast of characters will apparently include actors who have appeared on television shows like Justified, the Americans and House of Cards.

Visceral Games promises that gamers will be able to visit a lot of iconic North American cities, each with their own personality, and that the range of weapons offered will include classic mainstays of the series and a few science fiction options.

In classic Battlefield fashion, items and loadouts will play an important role and the developers say that both the police and the criminals will have plenty of exclusive options to equip their characters before heading into the fight.

Battlefield: Hardline is supposed to be launched this fall in order to compete with the rival Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Games and Activision, although no date has been mentioned.

The game is set to be delivered on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, current-gen consoles and the PC.
