The new title will have to sell well to justify a sequel

Visceral Games, the developer of the upcoming Battlefield Hardline first-person shooter set to debut next week, would love to work on a sequel for the new title, but emphasizes that, right now, things are uncertain, so it's probably better to wait and see how it performs.

Battlefield Hardline launches next week worldwide across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, and developer Visceral Games has been in constant contact with the community, while organizing two different beta stages, all to ensure that the new title makes a good debut.

A sequel would be great, Visceral says, but things aren't clear

While talking about the future, Visceral's Creative Director, Ian Milham, confirms that he and his team would love to work on a new game in the series, and maybe even a Hardline 2 that has the best elements of the upcoming title, as well as new elements.

However, Milham mentions that, right now, the future is uncertain, as publisher Electronic Arts hasn't taken a formal decision to alternate the series between Visceral and original developer DICE.

"I don't know if we would ever formalize it," he tells Videogamer. "And there was no formal, 'Okay, now you guys are going to trade off every other year making Battlefield games with DICE.' I don't know what the future holds. This was sort of a thing that seemed a cool possibility for us to do and yeah, we'd like to make more if it works out."

Given that Hardline is backed up by a big marketing campaign and Visceral made sure to implement fan feedback into the final game after its beta stages, it's quite possible that Hardline will make a solid impression on fans with its new approach to warfare, pitting cops against criminals, as well as story and multiplayer modes.

The game launches on March 17, in North America, and March 20, in Europe and the rest of the world across PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
