DICE, Visceral Games, and Electronic Arts have confirmed that, after careful consideration, they're going to release Battlefield Hardline in early 2015, instead of in late October, as was initially planned.

Battlefield Hardline was revealed to the world at the beginning of summer, and at E3 2014 in June EA and developer Visceral Games rolled out a surprise beta test for the PC and PS4 platforms.

The test phase proved to be quite popular and generated a lot of feedback for Visceral to mull over, alongside the help of original Battlefield developer DICE.

Over the last few weeks, Visceral even relayed some of the improvements it's made to the game after pouring over the feedback from the beta stage.

Now, DICE General Manager Karl-Magnus Troedsson has confirmed on the official blog that in order to implement all the planned improvements and to make sure that Hardline stands out from the traditional Battlefield franchise, the title has been delayed until early 2015.

"Back at E3, we launched a beta for Hardline — we wanted to not only show you the game, but to let you play it for yourselves. Millions of you jumped in and had a great time. As a result, the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game," he explains.

According to Troedsson, Visceral and DICE are working to ensure that Hardline is the best game it can be, but in order to ensure its success, more time is needed.

"This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better. The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing," he says.

"However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months. We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans."

Troedsson emphasizes that the delay will result in Battlefield Hardline becoming the best game it can be and that its launch will be as smooth as possible.

No exact release date has been given in the announcement, so it's unclear when Battlefield Hardline will debut for the PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, or Xbox One.
