After quite a few rumors and some leaks, developer Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts have finally revealed the first details about the Criminal Activity expansion for Battlefield Hardline, as well as a gameplay video and a few screenshots that focus specifically on one of the new maps.

Battlefield Hardline launched in March, delivering a pretty interesting take on the first-person shooter series. The title impressed quite a few with its cops vs. criminals premise, not to mention the fresh multiplayer modes that added much-needed spice to the classic ones seen in past Battlefield titles.

The game has since received a few updates and other improvements from Visceral Games while the first of the promised four expansions, Criminal Activity, is nearing its estimate release period of June.

Criminal Activity final gets details, plus a video and some screenshots

Now, after a few leaks, Battlefield Hardline has received some official details about the Criminal Activity add-on, not to mention a gameplay video and some interesting screenshots that focus on Backwoods, one of the all-new maps included in the expansion.

First up, as you can see in the video below, four interesting maps are included in Criminal Activity, called Code Blue, Beat, Black Friday, and Backwoods.

While all of them get a few brief gameplay sequences, Backwoods gets a full description from Visceral, as the studio emphasizes its all-new environmental theme.

Like its name suggests, the level is set in a forest, focusing on an old logging operation which has been converted into a drug production facility by criminals. The police, as always, must take the nefarious individuals down across the many multiplayer modes.

"We designed this map to give players a natural, organic playground – a nice counterpart to the urban jungle of the game’s traditional maps. Under the redwood canopy, there are tons of hills, gullies, and rock formations to hide in. Abandoned lumber stations landmark the area, and a creaky covered bridge serves as a crossroads between two sides of the camp. That is, until it’s destroyed," the studio explains on its website.

Besides the new maps, Criminal Activity brings alongside it in June, when it's set to debut, a Tommy gun machine gun, as well as a few other surprises. Check out the video and screenshots below.
