The development team at Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that the Community Test Environment for Battlefield Hardline is now live and that gamers can now sign up if they are interested in contributing to the changes that will be introduced to the shooter in the coming months.

The first improvement that is being explored is an improvement to the netcode that is being linked to the Downtown map.

The official announcement states, "The CTE will provide passionate fans the chance to evolve Battlefield Hardline with us and become a part of the development process. We’ll be able to test new ideas and solutions to current issues before we roll them out to all Battlefield players."

The CTE for Battlefield Hardline is only offered on the PC and is only open to those who are subscribers to the Premium service.

Gamers who want to be involved need to access a special site and then sign-up, accept Terms and Conditions and then log into the Origin account that they have to download the special game client.

The Battlelog browser plug-in is also required, and all pop-up blockers need to be disabled and Visceral Games says that it wants as much feedback about the changes it will make to Battlefield Hardline from those who sign-up.

Criminal Activity is the first DLC coming to the shooter

In June gamers will be able to explore the first downloadable content pack for Battlefield Hardline, which will add four new maps that are designed to encourage high-intensity close quarters action.

The new environments for combat are called Code Blue, Beat, Black Friday, and Backwoods.

Gamers are also getting access to a new game mode and to more items for their characters.

Those who are subscribers to the Premium version of Battlefield Hardline will get access to the DLC first, and the rest of the community will get access to it after two weeks.

Presumably in time the CTE for the shooter will also be introduced on home consoles.

Battlefield Hardline is set to get a total of four DLC deliveries over the course of the year and Visceral Games says that it will also listen to feedback to the community in order to deliver a range of updates focused on game balance.
