The development team at Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts are announcing that the upcoming beta testing stage for Battlefield: Hardline is set to take place on the PlayStation 4 from Sony, the Xbox One from Microsoft, the PC and last-gen consoles and will be open to all who are interested in testing the new game mechanics.

The only problem is that, at the moment, the two companies are not yet ready to offer an actual date for the testing period.

Steve Papoutsis, the executive producer working on the first-person shooter, says in an official blog post that there are two modes that will be offered, called Hotwire and Conquest, both designed specifically to use the new criminals versus cops theme.

Two maps will be introduced and the community will have the chance to use a variety of new weapons and items that will create the unique experience of Battlefield: Hardline .

Hotwire is designed to focus on vehicle-based action, with quick and dynamic combat sequences, while Conquest allows 64 players to battle each other.

The developer states, "While it’s just a taste of the whole game, we want you to come in, take your jacket off, stay a while. There won’t be a cap on the max progression level so whether you’re busting criminals or fleeing the cops, unlock away."

He adds, "We want you to play this beta to death. We need you to. This test is only going to make the game stronger, and help us take a look at ways we can ensure we deliver the most stable launch you deserve."

Battlefield: Hardline needs to deliver quality on launch

Battlefield: Hardline was delayed from its original late 2014 launch date in order to give Visceral Games more time to polish the game experience after the first beta period for it showed that the community was not satisfied with the gameplay.

The studio has recently explained that the two sides are more asymmetric now and there are more items to use in order for each character to tweak his playing style.

Battlefield: Hardline will also include a complex single-player mode, which is apparently influenced by the top cop-based TV shows of the moment.

The title will be out on all platforms on March 17 in North America and on March 19 in Europe.
