Video game publisher Electronic Arts is now offering all interested gamers the chance to place a pre-order for its upcoming Battlefield Hardline on the Origin digital distribution service that it owns, securing a future copy of the first-person shooter.

The official description from the company and developer Visceral Games states, according to the listing, “Battlefield Hardline is a first-person action game set against the backdrop of the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals. Check back on June 9 at 1pm PDT for more information and videos from Battlefield Hardline.”

The Origin info does not confirm on which platforms the title will be launched other than the PC and there is no date associated with the game, other than the already known fall 2014 period.

Battlefield Hardline is offered for 49 dollars or Euro at the moment.

Developer Visceral Games and publisher Electronic Arts will deliver more info on the game on June 9, just before the E3 2014 event.

A video linked to the shooter was leaked this week and offered details about the experience, which will include both single and multiplayer modes and will focus on the battles between special police teams and battle-hardened criminal cartels.

A developer at Visceral has said that the footage was more than six months old and that the game experience has evolved since it was put together as a demo of what Hardline, which was talked about by its Omaha codename, could offer to fans.

Hardline was officially revealed after a series of rumors and some leaks, including one coming from the new code for the Battlelog service, and Electronic Arts is probably offering the option to pre-order as a way to secure a long-term commitment from longtime fans of the franchise.

Presumably, once the game is officially shown to players during E3 2014, the publisher will introduce at least one special edition for the title, both in physical and in digital versions.

Battlefield Hardline is designed specifically to compete directly with the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare title from Activision, which is created by Sledgehammer Games, a studio made up of some veterans from Visceral.

At the same time, DICE has explained that it will not abandon long-term support for Battlefield 4 anytime soon and that it has big plans to improve the game experience via patches and by launching two downloadable content packs over the summer months.
