Following EA's decision to change a bit its controversial desire to offer purchasable weapons for its next "free" game, Battlefield: Bad Company, things kind of returned back to normal and now everybody's silently waiting for the game to be released. Of course, nobody knew until now the real release date, but things have changed, since Electronic Arts has decided to offer us the latest piece of the puzzle: June 23 is the date when Battlefield: Bad Company ships to retail outlets worldwide.

Of course, as every game released nowadays, EA's FPS will offer, for a limited time only, the chance for you to purchase the Gold Edition of the game, that features exclusive content with behind-the-scenes action and strategy videos giving Battlefield: Bad Company players tricks and tips on how to own the battlefield. Along with the tips and tricks, some other things will be available for those who decide to spend some early cash - the five weapons that started the scandal a while ago (the same weapons will be available to regular players, for free, only after they rank up the highest level in multiplayer).

Karl-Magnus Troedsson, Senior Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company, has decided to give us a candy, giving one extra piece of information regarding the game mechanics, "Players can forget about using walls as cover as we've fundamentally changed the way to play shooters offline and online through the use of tactical destruction," he said. "Players will get the chance to reap the spoils of war this summer as they annihilate the enemy and search for gold in the dark, character-driven, single player storyline while returning Battlefield fans will love the intense and vehicle heavy multiplayer."

No walls means more and more frags inevitably lead to some achievements, experience and level up. Which could further mean that it's not that hard to unlock the five weapons people can get if they buy the Gold Edition. I guess we'll try and see - at least until we're out of ammo.
