The long awaited patch for the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is finally out, bringing a lot of changes that were requested by fans of the first person shooter. For those who have not yet gotten around to updating their copy of the latest Battlefield game, it's good to know that the size of the download is pretty hefty, weighing in at about 500 MB.

There are many fixes in this new patch, including better handling for the servers and more information available for their administrators. In terms of gameplay, helicopter handling has been tweaked, weapons have also had some stat changes, implemented according to the user feedback, the speed of the tracer dart has been reduced and, more importantly, knifing people in the back has been fixed.

The initially quite lacking server browser of the multiplayer component of the title receives yet more interface improvements with this newly released patch. Servers can finally be sorted into three categories: Normal, Modified and Hardcore. A join queue system has been implemented in the cases of full servers. The filter settings are finally saved between sessions and pings will be more accurate.

On the game client side, the spawn client has been eliminated, a new chat system that allows chatting when dead is now online and the Play Now option from the multiplayer menu should actually work. VIP Map Packs will be released on the PC at the same time with their console counterparts from now on. This comes as the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360 version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2 get the Onslaught Mode DLC, which allows four players to cooperatively confront four against waves of AI-controlled enemies.
