Today, the developers at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are launching the all new The Final Stand downloadable content for Battlefield 4 for Premium subscribers, which is designed to introduce a range of new content for players to experience, and the two companies are celebrating the occasion by delivering a new gameplay-focused trailer for it.

The footage runs just over two minutes and fans of the game can get a pretty good look at the maps and the new mechanics that are part of the DLC, with plenty of focus on snowmobiles and on winter engagements and some pretty cool indoor moments.

The Final Stand seems to be the final downloadable content pack which will be offered for the DICE-created first-person shooter, and gamers will be able to access four entirely new maps: Whiteout, Hangar 21, Giants of Karelia, and Hammerhead.

Each of them is designed with its unique Levolution moment and they are crafted in order to support the use of the new futuristic weaponry that is part of the package, with vehicles also playing an important role during engagements.

The Final Stand is Battlefield 4's answer to the recently launched Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare from Sledgehammer Games and Activision, but it does not offer gamers an option to use an exo-skeleton during combat.

Battlefield 4 might still get more patches

The launch of the final piece of DLC for Battlefield 4 does not mean that DICE is abandoning the shooter and is focusing only on the future.

At the moment, the studio has a team that is constantly monitoring player feedback and is using the Community Test Environment to test changes that might then be delivered for the full game in coming patches.

Electronic Arts has acknowledged that Battlefield 4 has a troubled launch and says that it is working to make the experience the best it can be in the coming months, before shifting its resources to other projects.

Presently, DICE is working on Star Wars Battlefront, which is designed to use some content associated with the new trilogy of movies set in the same universe and will be launched in the fall of next year, with a focus on massive battles.

At the same time, the studio is working with Visceral Games to make sure that the delayed Battlefield Hardline offers a solid gameplay experience when it comes to both single and multiplayer in March of next year.
