The development team at DICE and published Electronic Arts are announcing that they are planning to deliver the Spring Update set of changes for Battlefield 4 on May 26, with the deployment of the changes taking about one hour on all platforms on which the shooter is available.

On Tuesday gamers on the PC will be unable to play the multiplayer modes for one hour starting at 1 AM Pacific Daylight Time, while on the Xbox One the period will start at 2 AM PDT and on the PlayStation 4 the downtime will be enabled at 4 AM PDT.

On the Xbox 360 the maintenance period will be introduced at 3 AM PDT and on the PS3 the game will be offline from 5 AM PDT.

DICE says in the official announcement that a full set of patch notes will be offered to the community once the Spring Update for Battlefield 4 is live on all platforms.

The company is not anticipating any problems with the launch but will deliver any more details via its official social media channels.

The Spring Update is designed to introduce four new weapons for gamers to use in Battlefield 4 matches, and all the armament featured in the title will also be better balanced.

The Gun Master mode is also re-introduced, with some unique rules for gamers to follow, and the netcode is also being improved.

Battlefield 4 will also get a free map created by the community

DICE has been working with the player base to create a new map based on their choices for a while now but it seems that there are no plans to introduce it on May 26 alongside the Spring Update.

The new environment will be offered for free when a date for it is finally revealed.

It's unclear whether DICE is planning to continue to support Battlefield 4 after the end of this year.

The focus for the development team is shifting towards Star Wars Battlefront, the title that will be introduced on November 17 and will deliver battles based on the original movie trilogy.

Gamers will have a chance to play as the biggest heroes of the franchise, and the development team has recently detailed the lengths it has gone to make sure that it delivers a very accurate representation of Star Wars.
