The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are planning to restart all the servers for the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the 360 and the PS3 versions of Battlefield 4 at 9 AM Greenwich Mean Time.

The announcement comes from the official Twitter account of the franchise and claims that the multiplayer mode can be affected by the move, but the two companies are not saying how long the downtime will last.

DICE is also not saying exactly why it plans to restart the servers and whether it plans to use the occasion to introduce any changes to the core game experience or to enhance the platforms on which the shooter runs.

The restart might be linked to the fact that the Dragon’s Teeth downloadable content pack for Battlefield 4 is being delivered to all the players who are not subscribers to the Premium service.

Those who get it will be able to enjoy four new maps in multiplayer, use new weapons and items, including a ballistic shield, and take part in the new Battlefest.

DICE recently announced that it was delaying the launch of the new Battlefield Hardline in order to make sure that it had more time to add new gameplay mechanics to the shooter and to improve both the single and the multiplayer experiences.
