In what seems to become a bi-weekly ritual, the development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that they are set to restart the servers for Battlefield 4 today, at 9 AM Greenwich Mean Time and 2 AM Pacific Time.

The information comes from the official Twiiter account of the series, and the company says that the multiplayer modes might be affected for a short while until the infrastructure is brought back online.

The company is not offering any clear reason for the server restarts, although the community has long suspected that the action is needed in order to prepare the game for future changes.

Battlefield 4 is supposed to be getting a major update in September from DICE, based on the feedback offered on the community test environment, which will tweak the way weapons perform and will change the core mechanics in positive ways.

The studio has not said exactly when it wants to implement it.

At the same time, the company is working on the final piece of downloadable content for the shooter, called The Final Stand, which will arrive before the end of the year and will include futuristic weapons and vehicles that will battle in the Russian Arctic.

We'll be restarting servers on all console platforms Tues. Sept. 16th at 2:00AM PT / 9:00 UTC / 11:00 CET. Multiplayer may be affected. — Battlefield (@Battlefield) September 15, 2014
