Video game developer DICE announces that it plans to restart the entire server infrastructure that is supporting the multiplayer of Battlefield 4 today at 2 AM Pacific Time, which is the equivalent of 9 AM Greenwich Mean Time.

The information comes from an official Twitter message which also says that matches might be affected for a short while.

The company is not saying exactly why these restarts are needed and why they seem to be more frequent during the past month, but it might have something to do with the big patch that Battlefield 4 is set to get during September.

DICE says that it plans to make some fundamental changes to the shooter experience and that a lot of weapons will be tweaked, requiring some gamers to change the way they approach the game.

Some features of the update have already been revealed and more info is promised soon, with those who are part of the test environment for Battlefield 4 able to test the modifications that DICE has introduced.

At the same time, the studio is also working on the final downloadable content pack for the shooter, called The Last Stand, which will include futuristic weapons and is designed to take gamers to the Russian Arctic region.
