It appears that previous rumors suggesting EA might kick off Battlefield 4 beta beginning September 24 were inaccurate.

The well-known games developer and publisher has just announced that “the highly-anticipated Battlefield 4 action starts with the Battlefield 4 Open Beta on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on October 1, then the game lights up on October 29.”

Basically, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 players will be able to enjoy Battlefield 4 in an open beta program about one month before the game hits shelves on October 29.

EA's Peter Moore also confirmed those who wish to play the game on the next-generation consoles will only have to wait about a month until Battlefield 4 gets released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

According to Moore, Battlefield 4 will arrive on Xbox One on November 19 in North America and November 21 in Europe. PlayStation 4 owners will be able to play the game beginning November 12 in North America and November 29 in Europe.

EA also states that those who purchase Battlefield 4 on the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 will be able to “learn maps, unlock items, and build stats” in the game, which, ultimately, will be carried over from the current gen console to a new Xbox One or PlayStation 4 version.

Earlier this week, DICE and EA unveiled the Battlefield 4 Xbox One and PlayStation 4 retail upgrade offers which will allow players who purchase the current gen version to pay a small amount in order to upgrade to a next-generation version of the game.

As the companies announced “inside marked copies of Battlefield 4 for PlayStation 3 there will be a voucher with a unique code printed on it. This code will allow you the one-time opportunity until March 28, 2014 to purchase a digital version of Battlefield 4 via the PlayStationStore for only $9.99/£9.99/9.99€.”

Those who purchase Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 will be able to trade-in later for the Xbox One version for only $9.99. This offer is valid at Microsoft Store locations until December 31, 2013.
