The development team at DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are ready to deliver more information on the upcoming Naval Strike downloadable content for Battlefield 4, which is designed to deliver four new maps and a new set of mechanics for gamers to explore.

The official blog post from the studio states, "Water-based combat has always been a vital part of the all-out war of Battlefield 4, and with Battlefield 4 Naval Strike the fights at sea are more intense than ever. With the introduction of the amphibious hovercraft vehicle, your possibilities to dominate the sea will be even greater."

The included new maps are: Lost Islands, which features fishing villages that need to be captured and a crashed passenger plane; Wave Breaker, build around a naval base which features an impressive submarine; Nansha Strike, the biggest section of ocean ever featured in the shooter; Operation Mortar, which features an abandoned cliff side vacation resort.

Naval Strike for Battlefield 4 will also introduce a new game mode called Carrier Assault and the team explains that the experience based on the old Titan Assault from Battelfield 2142 will get more details in a future blog post.

Presumably gamers will have to work as a team and capture essential points on the enemy carrier before taking control over the massive ship.

The images that DICE is delivering for Naval Strike suggests that the new Frostbite 3 engine will be used to deliver a set of visuals more impressive than in the base game.

The new piece of DLC will be offered in late March for all those who subscribe to the Premium service for Battlefield 4, with the rest of the community able to access it after a period of two weeks.

The development team has always been careful to offer fans full info on all changes coming to the shooter and that means more blogs will be offered in the coming weeks explaining how the new content will affect long term fans.

Battlefield 4 was in pretty rough shape when it first arrived late in 2013 and DICE at one point promised that it was suspending work on any DLC and future title in order to address the bugs that the community was flagging.

Despite the launch problems publisher Electronic Arts has said that sales of the franchise have not been affected in any way and that gamers have spent a huge number of hours with the shooter.
