The 17-minute video that developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have used to reveal the coming Battlefield 4 first-person shooter was impressive from a visual standpoint and the team working on the game says that the final quality of the experience will be even better.

Patrick Bach, the executive producer working on Battlefield 4, tells CVG that, “What you saw is pre-alpha - it's not the final game or anything. We are lacking a lot of optimisation. Without going into detail about what it could look like on a lower spec machine or a higher spec machine, we will have the scalability to bring the most out of any piece of hardware.”

He says that the footage, which was taken directly from the game engine, is a target for the DICE team and that players will see how the game has evolved before it is launched.

A producer was actually playing Battlefield 4 for the demo using the new Frostbite 3 engine and content that will be included in the final release.

Bach adds, “when we create our visual targets a big part of that is to make it realistic, as in you will be able to run it on a machine that you can buy.”

Many fans of the Battlefield series have been disappointed to hear that DICE has no plans to show off the multiplayer mode of the video game.

The single-player focused on delivering impressive firefights and moments that the development team says are created to add emotional weight to the game.

The new Frostbite 3 engine is capable of offering better simulation for faces and the environment.

Battlefield 4 will probably be launched on the PC, current and next-gen consoles before the end of the year and a leak has already revealed the first piece of DLC linked to the game.
