Battlefield 3's Multiplayer Will Keep Players From Trying Out Modern Warfare 3

Electronic Arts believes that its recently released Battlefield 3 first person shooter will be able to retain most of its player base next week, when Activision deploys its own military shooter, in the form of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Battlefield 3 is extremely successful and sees millions of gamers engage in its multiplayer mode, but many believe things will change, as players will flock to the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 shooter, once it's released next week.

That's not quite so, at least according to EA's executive vice president, Patrick Soderlund, who told IGN that the "industry-leading" multiplayer in Battlefield 3 will keep players hooked on the experience even after Modern Warfare 3 is released.

"We all respect what Call of Duty brings and what they're going to come with, and I think that we have an industry-leading multiplayer game that will make people want to stay with us, frankly," Soderlund said.

"If you look at all the reviews that we've gotten, not a single one that I've seen has been negative towards the multiplayer. In fact, many state that the multiplayer is the multiplayer experience to have, the best in the world. And if I can continue to harness that and work on improving that and give the consumers more of that, then hopefully they're going to feel loyal to us and stay."

Soderlund continued by saying that EA is now completely focusing on Battlefield 3, instead of trying to pick a fight with Call of Duty, as it did before the release of the game.

"My focus has got to be on our product, and not necessarily on the others. And right now we're out in the market, and that's all I know. When they come out, they come out, and I wish them the best of luck. They're partners in this industry, and I play all their games and I look forward to many of them, and all I can do is try and make sure that people stay interested and want to have more Battlefield."

What will you do next week? Are you going to remain loyal to Battlefield 3 or will you jump into the Modern Warfare 3 experience? Share your decisions below.
