DICE has confirmed that its Battlefield 3 and Battlelog outages are caused by a series of external attacks and that it's working hard to get the servers fully operational.

Battlefield 3 owners have experienced periods of outage and unavailability in recent days and, while DICE promised to get things back online as soon as possible, it seems that issues are still encountered by players and Battlelog users.

Now, the studio has confirmed on the Battlefield Twitter that the outages are caused by external attacks that appear to "be aimed at overwhelming [the] game servers."

DICE has also promised that fresh details about the state of Battlefield 3 and Battlelog servers would be relayed in the very near future, once its technical team concludes its examination.

As of yet, no group has taken responsibility for the cyber-attacks, so it's unclear just what their goal is, besides disrupting the multiplayer mode of Battlefield 3.
