Says former DICE man

DICE is quite busy at the moment. The company is working on putting Battlefield: Bad Company 2 out in top shape and is also set to deliver the multiplayer component of the revived Medal of Honor game, which should arrive in time for the holiday shopping season and compete directly with the Call of Duty title developed by Treyarch. And now a former employee is saying that the developer studio has some impressive things planned for Battlefield 3.

Fredrik Liliegren, who was once the chief executive officer of DICE and a studio manager, told Gaming Union in an interview that “I know what they were talking about on the PC side for Battlefield, and they haven't announced any of that yet, after three years. So I know what's coming, and I still can't talk about it because I'm still under NDA,” adding that “I think it's going to absolutely blow everyone away, but I can't tell you what it is, but it will blow people away... because it's not Modern Warfare 2 PC, it's not that experience.”

DICE is not talking about Battlefield 3 at the moment, although publisher Electronic Arts has pretty much confirmed its existence when John Pleasants referred to it saying “that is a product that is looking very good.” It's not clear how far along in development the game could be right now.

Battlefield 3 might get detailed after the launch of Bad Company 2, which is coming on March 2 in North America and three days later in Europe, on the PC, the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 from Sony. Clearly, EA would not allow Battlefield 3 to compete with the new Medal of Honor, so fans of the multiplayer-focused series should not expect to see the game released before mid-2011.
