DICE has confirmed that the online servers for its Battlefield 3 first person shooter are going offline later today, as several updates are being made in preparation for the upcoming patch.

Battlefield 3 impressed many people with its top notch multiplayer mode and developer DICE has tried to always keep the online action as smooth as possible.

Sadly, this also requires some regular maintenance to the online servers, during which they need to be shut down.

The latest offline period is happening today, between 9AM UTC / 1AM PST and 10AM UTC / 2AM PST.

During this hour, Battlefield 3’s online multiplayer and the Battlelog service will be unavailable across all platforms, including the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Several updates are being made to the servers in preparation for the game’s next patch that arrives in the near future.
