The Premium service that developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts have launched for battlefield 3 has managed to get more than 800,000 sign-ups just a few weeks after launch and the two companies have big long-term plans for it.

Patrick Soderlund, who is the leader of the EA Games division, has stated, “We are very pleased with the performance so far. We’re actually only two weeks into it, so it’s a little early to tell how this is going to pay off. It certainly it looks very promising right now.”

The executive says that EA has big plans for the Premium concept, wishing to integrate it into other products in its line, as DICE and the publisher previously did with the Autolog feature.

Premium allows gamers to get early access to the various downloadable content packs that Battlefield 3 will get and gives gamers more options linked to the multiplayer modes.
