The official launch of the game takes place next week

Even if Battlefield 3 is set to be released next week, video game pirates can already enjoy the new first person shooter as it was leaked at the beginning of the week on various Bittorrent websites.

Battlefield 3 is definitely one of the most anticipated games of the year, especially after the recent multiplayer open beta stage, ran by Electronic Arts, its publisher, and DICE, its developer, on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platform.

Now, via DSOGaming, just as the game is getting ready to be released next week, we hear that video game pirates have seemingly gotten their hands on the retail version of Battlefield 3 on the PC, and have leaked clone images of the game's two DVDs.

This version of Battlefield 3 still requires would-be players to bypass the piracy protection of the game. As you all know, Battlefield 3 requires a constant Internet connection as well as an Origin account to be able to engage in any of its modes, from the single-player to the cooperative or competitive multiplayer ones.

Hackers have yet to foil this anti-piracy protection, but, as we saw with Ubisoft's restrictive DRM, for example, it's just a matter of time until they find a way to circumvent it.

The leaked Battlefield 3 version weighs in at around 9.96GB and, even if it's not playable just yet, as we approach the release date of the first person shooter, we'll certainly see working editions, not just for the PC but also for the Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, playable by those who illegally modified their consoles.

Neither DICE nor Electronic Arts commented on the matter, although both have been releasing lots of new details and information about the game in recent weeks.

Battlefield 3 is out for the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on October 25, in North America, and October 28, in Europe. Hopefully it won't fall victim to piracy until then.
