The first person shooter Battlefield 3, from Swedish developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, has managed to keep the top position in the United Kingdom video game chart ahead of the newly launched Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, the action adventure story from developers Naughty Dog and publisher Sony.

For the week that ended on November 5 Battlefield 3 has seen a drop in sales of close to 50 percent but still managed to keep its position ahead of a determined challenger, which suggests that it received very good sales during its first week on sale.

FIFA 12, the football simulation from the EA Sports division, has managed to keep its place in third, proving the enduring popularity of the series in the country that is said to have invented football.

Batman: Arkham City, the Rocksteady developed and Warner Bros. published open world game starring the Dark Knight, has dropped down two places and reached fourth while Just Dance 3, the newly launched Ubisoft music game, has managed to keep its own position in fifth.

Football Manager 2012, created by Sports Interactive and published by SEGA, is in sixth place, again down two position, while Forza Motorsport 4, the racing game from Microsoft and Turn 10 that is only available on the Xbox 360, has dropped down just one place from last week to sit in seventh.

Zumba Fitness is in eight, with 505 Games ready to launch a follow-up fitness game, while Skylander's: Spyro's Adventure from Activision is in ninth.

The United Kingdom top ten is closed down by a new entry, Sonic Generations from SEGA, which combines the powers of Classic and Modern version of Sonic and comes complete with remade levels.

The Sims 3: Pets and RAGE are out of the top ten.

The chart is likely to see major changes next week with the arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
