The upcoming Battlefield 3 first-person shooter has just received its second gameplay video, after the stunning one we saw a few weeks ago during the Game Developers Conference.

This new video, while not as explosive or impressive as the first one, highlights one of the trademarks of the Battlefield series: environmental destruction.

It shows the same group of soldiers we saw in the original video, this time reaching the roof of an office building.

They are quickly assaulted by a sniper located in a building across from their position, forcing them to retreat into cover and try to move to a closer position in order to take him out.

The real star of the video is, once more, the impressive lighting effects, with the harsh Middle Eastern sun casting its light onto the protagonists.

The soldiers hear and see how bullets go past them, while trying to get into a better position.

Battlefield 3 shows, in this new video, an emphasis on strategy and working as a team with the AI-controlled squad mates. While the player gets ready to shoot a missile into the nest of the sniper, the rest of the soldiers provide suppressive fire so that he won't get hurt.

The video is completed by a gratuitous shot of the destruction suffered by the sniper's building.

You should also notice the high resolution textures sported by the game in the video, as well as the sharp shadows and smooth animations of all the characters involved, either controlled by the player or the AI.

Battlefield 3 is shaping up to be one of the most graphically impressive games of the year, being powered by DICE's new Frostbite 2 engine, which was built from the ground up to make the game a next generation title for current generation platforms.

The video, like the first one, has been rendered on the PC, as that is the main platform because of its powerful hardware, in comparison to consoles like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.
