Battlefield 3, the first person shooter from Swedish developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts, has managed to take over the number one position in the United Kingdom video game chart during first week on sale.

The game has managed to move 5 million copies worldwide in less than seven days, according to internal estimates from the publisher.

Batman: Arkham City, the semi-open world mix between brawler and adventure from Rocksteady and Warner Bros., has managed down one place to second in the chart for the week which ended on October 29.

FIFA 12, the sports simulation from EA Sports, has also gone down one position to occupy the final place left on the podium, signaling that it will long occupy a spot in the top ten.

Football is also present one position lower, with Sports Interactive and SEGA delivering Football Manager 2012, the game dedicated to the coaching arts, to fourth spot, again one position down over the previous week.

Just Dance 3, the Ubisoft follow up to one of the most popular titles of the first half of the year, has managed to keep its place in fifth while Forza Motorsport 4, the racing game from Microsoft and Turn 10 which is exclusive to the Xbox 360, drops down 2 places to land in sixth.

The Sims 3: Pets expansion from Electronic Arts is in seventh, also sliding down in the United Kingdom top ten, while Zumba Fitness, from 505 Games, has managed to gain one to get to eight.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, from Activision, has managed to enter the top ten during its second week on sale, probably because strong sales of the toy line that uses the same characters, like RAGE, the first person shooter from Bethesda and id Software, closes down the top ten.

Gears of War 3 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 are out of the chart.
