Battlefield 2: Modern Combat is a first person shooter videogame from the series Battlefield, which was developed by Digital Illusions CE also known as DICE, and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for the Xbox 360 and for the Sony PlayStation 2 on October 25, 2005 in North America and was the first game in the series to have reached consoles.

An updated version of this game was released on April 11, 2006 for the new Xbox 360 gaming console. The graphics engine and the multiplayer features were updated for the new console. There was also a PlayStation Portable port of the game that was announced in 2005, but development on it was canceled as the new game in the series, called Battlefield: Bad Company, entered development, to be launched for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat offers only two multiplayer game modes, Conquest and Capture the Flag. Both of them are optimized for team play, with 24 players or less taking part in matches.

A player will obtain new ranks as he progresses through the game. The lowest of them is Private and the highest, 5 Star General. There are three criteria for advancement: game score, medals and points per hour of play.

A group of players can create a clan for multiplayer modes. There are both player and clan leaderboards available online for the game, so each player can see his position among the others at any moment.

GAMEPLAY HINTS

Kamikaze

Choose the Special Ops class and take your C4s out. Go near a vehicle and put one or two C4s on it. Keep your detonator out and go in the vehicle. When you see an enemy, get out your vehicle so that it ghost rides into the enemy. When the enemy is near the vehicle, detonate the C4s.

Easy medal

Go to Backstab. Choose the American side and have the assault kit. Spawn at the base and take a jeep over to where the health is found by the tent, which has the tank inside it. Park the jeep on top of the health box. Get out and take out the weapon to the left. Shoot at the wall so it at least takes away a third of your health. Then, hop in the jeep. Once you have healed yourself you will get a point. Do that four times and you will get a medal.

Chinese restaurant reference

Play conquest at "Bridge Too Far" and go to the Chinese side. When there is no extra battle sound, you can hear faint music that would normally play in a Chinese restaurant. Coincidentally, there is also a building that looks like a Chinese restaurant in that map.

GLITCH

Floating corpse

Choose a map with a tank. Destroy that tank with a rocket. Have someone stand on the metal remains of the tank. Then, have someone kill the player on the destroyed tank. Wait for the tank parts to disappear. Note: This works best if you do not use a high powered weapon such as a machine gun or SMG. Use a pistol that is silenced, as found in the Sniper or Special Op Kit. Once the tank is gone, the body of the dead player should being floating in mid-air.
