In case you're curious how a first-person shooter multiplayer online battle arena game looks, you're in luck, as a video showing actual gameplay footage from a match surfaced on the Internet.

Borderlands 2 developer Gearbox Software is currently working on another title that intends to expand the scope of first-person shooters, titled Battleborn. The dev touts it as a hero shooter, but the revealed footage bears all the hallmarks of a first-person shooter MOBA game.

Battleborn has a distinct comic book general aesthetic, featuring what looks like a ton of ink artifacts when things explode, offering a very distinct visual experience.

The gameplay footage comes from Videogamer, accompanied by relevant commentary that talks about how Gearbox goes about merging DOTA mechanics with first-person shooter gameplay, just like it did with Borderlands, 2K Games' best-selling franchise, largely due to the depth of the role-playing elements and all the crazy and over-the-top action, imbued with a healthy dose of silly humor.

Gearbox President Randy Pitchford said on numerous occasions that the team was eager to create something new, and that they needed to take a break from the Borderlands series, and Battleborn is apparently just what the team needs before embarking on the daunting task of making Borderlands 3.

Battleborn is currently headed to the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms, sometime in 2015.
