The developers at Kaos Studio and publisher THQ have offered more details on the multiplayer experience that will be offered by first-person shooter Homefront, which will be based around the North Korean invasion of the United States.

One of the main innovations for the multiplayer element of Homefront will be the introduction of the Battle Commander, which seems like a director from the Half Life series with a more limited mandate.

The idea is to have an Artificial Intelligence that evaluates each of the matches where it is used and give players context linked missions that are determined by the way they approach the Homefront experience.

The developers at Kaos Studios are saying that with each mini missions completed the target player or his team will get a bonus on the battlefield and will get another missions, creating a cycle or reward that is not linked just to killing the enemy.

The Battle Commander is a way of introducing a sort of structure to the sometimes chaotic space of multiplayer first-person shooters.

The developers at Kaos Studios are saying that their aim is “making large-scale warfare personal” and “supporting basic revenge instincts with escalating rewards”,

The multiplayer side of Homefront will offer six classes that players can try out, with different roles on the battlefield, and a host of customization options linked to each character.

There are helicopter like drones that can rain destruction down on enemies caught in the open, but at the price of player mobility and drone tanks that feature machinegun-based firepower and can be deployed to confuse the enemy and slow his advance.

Players will be able to get access to them and other toys like this as soon as they can earn points in multiplayer matches and the people at Kaos are working hard to make sure that none of them is overpowered.

Homefront is being prepared for the Xbox 360, the PlayStation 3 and the PC and will be released on March 8 in North America.
