Windows 8.1 Preview sure comes with lots of bugs, but some users are now complaining that Microsoft’s first Windows 8 update is causing some battery life issues on specific hardware configurations.

Several posts on Microsoft’s support forums reveal that overheating is also a major problem for a number of tablets and laptops running 8.1 Preview, so waiting for the final version of the operating system seems to be the only choice.

“I upgraded my Dell XPS 10 from 8 to 8.1 RT and I am having similar issues. Battery drains quickly and the tablet heats up a lot. I called dell support who are going to Reimage my PC. I like the update to it is un workable if in present condition,” one user explained the issue on the forums.

Microsoft is most likely aware of the bug, so expect the company to patch it with the next updates to be released for Windows 8.1 Preview and Windows RT 8.1 Preview.
