Romania will host the filming of the sequel to Louis Morneau's 1999 "Bats", starring Lou Diamond Phillips and Dina Meyer. The shooting will start in September.
The story of the original horror movie, written by John Logan ( The Aviator, The Last Samurai) about a local town sheriff who teams with a bat expert to fight against the killer rodents escaping their cages and going on a scary spree across town, is now in pre-production, according to Moviehole.
"Bats 2" is set in present day in Afghanistan, and revolves around a group of soldiers who endeavor to capture Fazul, a fanatical terrorist who has escaped into the maze of caves underlying the landscape of the country. The soldiers encounter one major obstacle: genetically altered bats programmed to seek out flesh and consume it.
