Gotham becomes the scene of a high-speed car chase

In April this year, an older report that Ben Affleck’s Batman would be appearing in David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” was confirmed when the actor was spotted out and about in Toronto, and then on the set of the movie wearing what looked like a typical Bruce Wayne classy suit.

Should you be in need of even more confirmation of the cameo, it comes in the form of a couple of Instagram videos available below and 2 GIFs as a bonus. That’s the Batmobile chasing the Jokermobile in the streets of Gotham, in a scene that will be included in the 2016 release.

Batman will probably be “the villain” in “Suicide Squad”

As noted above, word that Batman would make a cameo in the summer release has been around since earlier this year. Affleck’s Batman will be introduced in March 2016, in “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” from director Zack Snyder, and it only made sense to have him appear in “Suicide Squad.”

The latter reunites some of the biggest villains in the DC Comics universe, including The Joker (Jared Leto), as a special task force under governmental orders, carrying out missions deemed too risky for any other trained specialist.

The Joker is Batman’s biggest enemy, so if you think about it, the cameo was to be expected. Since the villains, including The Joker, are the “good guys” in “Suicide,” it makes sense to have Batman as the villain, that is, the guy who’s endangering whatever operation they have going on by trying to bring The Joker to justice again.

The other possibility is that Batman comes along before The Joker is recruited for the special task force, and might even be the one to bring him in.

A car chase in Gotham

The bottom line is that Batman is hot on The Joker’s heels, as the videos show: the flashy, bright purple car that passes first is the Jokermobile, seen by fans last week for the first time, when Leto and Margot Robbie shot a scene in which The Joker slapped Harley Quinn so hard he knocked her out. At the beginning of it, he got out of this flashy, pimped out ride.

We know that it has customized vanity plates that read “Haha,” which go with The Joker’s pimp-like outfit, including a shiny jacket and a shirt he wears open down to the navel.

As for the Batmobile, this is clearly a different version from what Christopher Nolan did in his “Dark Knight” trilogy: it appears more stripped down and bigger, more powerful and aggressive-like, rougher. It’s the kind of car you’d expect to see on screen in “Mad Max: Fury Road,” give or take a few skull embellishments here and there.

It’s also the kind of car you’d expect to see Affleck’s Batman drive: he’s bigger and more brutish looking than Christian Bale’s version.
